Cathy Harrelson, 53, a longtime resident of Shore Acres, is a financial professional, a grandmother, and a community leader who demonstrates leadership, responsibility, and service.
Fiscal Responsibility and Experience
An investment advisor and financial professional for over twenty-five years, Cathy has lived in District 3 since 1981. She raised her son, Dylan, in Shore Acres and served as a Northeast Little League Team Mom while working as a wholesaler of municipal bonds, and as an investment advisor for families and small businesses.
Proud Grandmother, Works with the Elderly and with the Disabled
Today, Cathy is a proud grandmother of Dylan, Jr., 3. and continues her work in the financial services industry as a trust services consultant. She works directly with special needs trust beneficiaries, their families and their attorneys to help provide solutions to the unique issues and problems facing clients with disabilities and the elderly.
A Community Leader in Conservation Values
Cathy was selected to participate in the Pinellas County Environmental Science Forum to make important recommendations regarding critical conservation issues facing Pinellas County today. She is immediate past Chair of the Suncoast Sierra Club, where she specialized in issues such as voter education, coastal water quality, and support for the St. Pete Green Cities resolution.
A Community Leader with a Plan for Tomorrow
Cathy was one of 300 local leaders in the seven-county greater Tampa Bay area chosen to participate in Reality Check Tampa Bay in May 2007 – a visioning exercise and discussion regarding growth, transportation and environment in our neighborhoods and communities through 2050.
A Community Leadership in her Industry
Cathy has served as Treasurer, Chair and President of the Florida Municipal Bond Club, and is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Florida State Guardianship Association, as Area III Director for Pinellas, Pasco, Polk and Hillsborough Counties.
When not volunteering on conservation issues or spending time with her grandson, Cathy can be found hitting tennis balls on local public courts, where she played with the St. Petersburg Tennis League for 26 years.
